House of Roots and Bones: Master Practitioner Formation Department
MASTER PRACTITIONER FORMATION
LEVEL 600 — MASTER PRACTITIONER
HORB MST 601 — Teaching Hoodoo to Beginners
Prepares practitioners to teach foundational Hoodoo without overwhelming beginners or falsifying history. Students learn curriculum design, learning objectives, assessment, source selection, and how to communicate complex material clearly. The course establishes teaching as a distinct competency from personal practice.
HORB MST 602 — Designing a Rootwork Apprenticeship
Teaches students to build structured apprenticeships from observation to supervised practice. Students develop training stages, evaluation methods, and accountability standards. The course prepares teachers to produce competent workers rather than enthusiastic consumers.
HORB MST 603 — Preserving Family Knowledge Without Commodifying It
Examines the responsibility of teaching family knowledge. Students determine what may be shared, what should remain private, and how to document and protect restricted teachings. The course challenges the assumption that everything sacred must be sold or turned into content.
HORB MST 604 — Client Confidentiality & the Closed Door
Develops professional confidentiality for all spiritual work. Students learn to protect client information, case notes, and identifying details while teaching, recording, or consulting. The course establishes the closed door as both an old spiritual principle and a modern professional standard.
HORB MST 605 — Money, Fees & the Professional Rootworker
Examines ethical and practical issues related to charging for spiritual labor. Students study historical paid work, modern business realities, transparent fees, deposits, refunds, boundaries, and the dangers of exploitation. The course develops a professional fee structure compatible with both livelihood and integrity.
HORB MST 606 — Recognizing Manipulative and Fraudulent Spiritual Practice
Teaches students to identify fear-based selling, fabricated diagnoses, false authority, and other forms of spiritual fraud. Students examine how genuine beliefs can be exploited without dismissing the tradition. The course protects clients and the reputation of authentic Hoodoo practice.
HORB MST 607 — Supervising Apprentice Practitioners
Trains practitioners to supervise developing workers. Students learn observation, feedback, case assignment, correction, and competency assessment. The course teaches how to guide apprentices with firmness, fairness, and spiritual responsibility.
HORB MST 608 — The Two-Headed Doctor: Advanced Reader-Worker Formation
Develops the mature Two-Headed Doctor capable of both seeing and working. Students integrate divination, diagnosis, treatment, right-hand and left-hand work, and professional judgment. The course requires demonstrated breadth of competency and responsibility across all major areas of the Seminary.
HORB MST 609 — The Root Doctor’s Grand Case Practicum
Requires students to manage multiple complex cases from intake through closure. Students document diagnosis, jurisdiction, materia, prayer, treatment, practical referrals, and reassessment. The course evaluates judgment, reasoning, and the ability to adapt when circumstances change.
HORB MST 610 — The House Examination: Defend Your Work
The final Master Practitioner examination. Candidates receive unfamiliar cases and must defend their historical reasoning, diagnosis, jurisdiction, Scripture, materia, construction, prayer, and treatment sequence. Passing demonstrates mature judgment, cultural grounding, practical competence, and accountability as a Root Doctor.
