XXVI. JUSTICE, COURT & CORRECTION

House of Roots and Bones: Black American Hoodoo & Conjure Seminary

HORB JST 301 — Justice Work in Black Southern Historical Context

Examines the historical realities that made justice work necessary within Black American communities. Students study slavery, Jim Crow, racial violence, and legal oppression, along with the spiritual and practical responses developed to survive and resist. The course establishes the historical foundation for all specialized justice work.

HORB JST 302 — Court Case Rootwork

Develops complete court-case workings for criminal, civil, family, employment, and administrative matters. Students integrate prayer, favor, protection, truthful testimony, and practical legal preparation. The course emphasizes that rootwork supports a case and never replaces competent legal counsel.

HORB JST 303 — Little John/Chew John in Legal Work

Applies the materia study of Little John/Chew John directly to court and authority conditions. Students learn preparation, petition, carrying, chewing, and historical traditions associated with gaining favor and persuasive speech. The course shows how this materia fits into a broader legal strategy rather than being a universal solution.

HORB JST 304 — Petitions for Favor Before Authorities

Examines petitions directed toward judges, employers, officials, landlords, and others in positions of authority. Students learn to identify the correct authority, craft precise petitions, and use appropriate materia and prayer. The course distinguishes legitimate influence from attempts to coerce or evade accountability.

HORB JST 305 — Truth-Revealing Work

Examines work intended to uncover hidden facts, reveal deception, and bring truth to light. Students integrate divination, observation, documentation, prayer, and practical investigation. The course teaches that genuine justice work must be willing to discover what actually happened.

HORB JST 306 — Vindication & Clearing One’s Name

Addresses false accusation, slander, and damaged reputation. Students study Biblical vindication language, reputation work, truth-revealing, and practical documentation. The course teaches that vindication must be grounded in truth and cannot ethically be built upon concealing wrongdoing.

HORB JST 307 — Protection Against False Accusation

Develops defensive strategies for anticipated or ongoing false allegations. Students combine prayer, protection, documentation, communication, and legal assistance. The course prepares practitioners to protect clients while remaining grounded in lawful and truthful conduct.

HORB JST 308 — Working Against Oppression Without Losing Judgment

Examines spiritual work against abusive systems, exploitative authorities, and discriminatory institutions. Students study historical resistance while also learning the importance of strategy, jurisdiction, and proportion. The course develops disciplined action rooted in justice rather than uncontrolled rage.

HORB JST 309 — Correction, Punishment & Spiritual Jurisdiction

Addresses deliberate corrective and punitive work within a clear jurisdictional framework. Students distinguish protection, reversal, restraint, correction, punishment, and revenge, and establish evidence and proportionality before acting. The course teaches that having the ability to strike is not the same as having jurisdiction to strike.

HORB JST 310 — Justice Case Practicum

Presents students with complex justice cases requiring full diagnosis, treatment planning, and professional defense of their decisions. Students must integrate divination, petitioning, materia, protection, practical action, and follow-up. Completion demonstrates mature judgment in justice, court, correction, and adversarial work.
