Land, Leadership, Survival & Community
BMCB BCH 106 — Joshua: Cross Over and Take Your Ground
Examines Joshua through crossing, courage, territory, leadership, conflict, covenant, and establishment after deliverance. Students study the Jordan crossing, Jericho, land division, and Joshua’s final charge. The course teaches that crossing over is only the beginning—people must learn how to stand on the ground reached.
BMCB BCH 107 — Judges: When Everybody Does What Seems Right to Them
Studies the cycles of oppression, deliverance, and disorder that structure Judges. Deborah, Gideon, Jephthah, Samson, and others are examined with honesty and nuance. The course explores what happens when spiritual power exists without collective wisdom.
BMCB BCH 108 — Ruth: Gleaning, Favor, Kinfolk & Provision
Examines Ruth through widowhood, migration, labor, favor, kinship, and restoration. Naomi and Ruth are studied as women who navigate loss and economic vulnerability with wisdom and strategy. The course highlights food, fields, redemption, and family restoration.
BMCB BCH 109 — 1 Samuel: Prophets, Kings & Knowing Who Is Called
Examines Hannah, Samuel, Eli, Saul, David, and the recognition of true calling. Students study anointing, jealousy, and the difference between spiritual appointment and ambition. The course prepares students to discern vocation and spiritual development.
BMCB BCH 110 — 2 Samuel: David’s House—Power, Sin & Consequence
Studies David’s kingship through covenant, warfare, sin, family violence, grief, and consequence. Students confront the Bathsheba narrative and the turmoil within David’s household. The course teaches that forgiveness does not always erase earthly consequences.
BMCB BCH 111 — 1 Kings: Solomon, Wisdom & a Divided House
Examines Solomon’s wisdom, judgment, temple, wealth, and the division that follows his reign. Students study the famous judgment between two women and the spiritual risks of compromise. The course provides a foundation for later study of Solomon and spiritual authority.
BMCB BCH 112 — 2 Kings: Prophets Who Know How to Work
Examines Elijah and Elisha through oil, water, food, healing, resurrection, and prophetic power. Students analyze what is spoken, what material is used, and what authority is demonstrated. The course shows how Biblical prophets use matter, prayer, and action together.
BMCB BCH 113 — 1 Chronicles: Know Your People and Remember Their Names
Examines genealogy, names, family lines, worship, and communal identity. Students learn why genealogies matter and how naming preserves people and history. The course connects Biblical genealogy with Black American family-history work.
BMCB BCH 114 — 2 Chronicles: The House, the People & the Consequences of Leadership
Examines temple, kingship, reform, corruption, and the long-term impact of leadership. Students study how the conduct of leaders shapes the condition of the community. The course challenges future leaders to understand that the House and the people are connected.
BMCB BCH 115 — Ezra: Coming Home and Rebuilding Sacred Life
Studies return from exile, rebuilding, teaching, identity, and community reconstruction. Students examine what it means to restore a people after displacement. The course explores challenges around identity, marriage, and the preservation of sacred life.
BMCB BCH 116 — Nehemiah: Build the Wall With One Hand Ready
Examines rebuilding, leadership, opposition, prayer, and practical labor. Nehemiah’s wall teaches that faith works with a plan and a tool, not prayer alone. The course emphasizes vigilance, organization, and the spiritual and practical protection of what is being built.
BMCB BCH 117 — Esther: Favor, Strategy & Deliverance Behind Enemy Doors
Examines Esther through hidden identity, favor, fasting, strategy, and communal deliverance. Students study Esther, Mordecai, Haman, and the Persian court as a model of survival and reversal. The course prepares students for later studies of favor, court conditions, enemy work, and justice.
